Data visualizations do not have to be boring - as shown by our Graph Cosmos project. The Cosmos is an innovative data creation and visualization system for use in online conference solutions.
Data visualizations do not have to be boring - as shown by our Graph Cosmos project. The Cosmos is an innovative data creation and visualization system for use in online conference solutions during the Corona pandemic, where regular physical solutions were not an option.
Initially, the system was designed for the Young Scholars Initiative (YSI), a group of critical economists, in their goal to find and refine the 100 most important economic questions of our time. YSI wanted the process to be a collaborative effort between their community members and selected keynote speakers, done within an interactive system where all progress is made visible to all participants over time.
The Cosmos was born out of these goals: it is a system to collaboratively create, refine and finally visualize data among a group of people - a real time collaborative brainstorming and visualization tool.

Live event integration
We don’t just create software solutions for digital use - we also integrate these into physical events, to create a cohesive event experience which mixes the digital and the physical.
For example, the goal of our “Unequal Earth” project was to use new technologies to communicate and interpret inequality data in a new kind of holographic data experience. The system built a 3D “city”, where the size and width of each holographic building was directly related to the income brackets from that particular country, allowing for an intuitive and interactive way of exploring the data: by looking at the size of individual buildings, users can read the state of inequality quickly, and with more emotional impact than a spreadsheet can ever give.
